În podcastul trecut, am vorbit despre cum URSS a început să aducă în atenția opiniei publice mondiale „problema Basarabiei” și încercarea României de a rezolva pe cale pașnică această chestiune, dar a eșuat în conferința de la Viena. La scurt timp, în sudul Basarabiei a avut loc o revoltă, catalogată de propaganda comunistă drept „apogeul luptei pentru eliberarea Basarabiei de sub jugul românesc”. Procesul celor peste 500 de persoane arestate, crearea RASSM în stânga Nistrului și schimbarea tacticii de acțiune a serviciilor secretele ale URSS, s-au numărat printre urmările imediate ale acestei răscoale.
