本節目介紹位居蘭嶼的原住民族 —雅美(達悟)族的傳統文化，蘭嶼四面環海，在交通不便的年代，發展出獨特的海洋文化，隨著時代的變遷，在現代文明的洗禮下，代代相傳的傳統文化也漸漸消逝中，「改變是必然的」，如何在改變中取得現代與傳統的平衡，也考驗著族人的智慧。
