In Rugby Union: The All Blacks crushed Eddie Jones’s Japan 64-19 in Yokohama yesterday, running in 10 tries in a routine win despite a sleepy start.
Debutant Ruben Love put a polish on the score by claiming two late tries in the space of three minutes for New Zealand after coming off the bench.
The match was the All Blacks’ first in a tour that will also see them take on England, Ireland, France and Italy on successive weekends.
In Rugby League: Playing in his last Test for the Fiji Bati, Michael Jennings scored a treble, Maika Sivo and Semi Valemei chimed in with a double each, out of a total of 10 tries of which eight were converted for a big 56-6 win over the Cook Islands in the Pacific Bowl in Suva last night.

While Thompson popped off 22 points, Luka Doncic top-scored with 27 as Dallas downed the San Antonio Spurs 109-120 in their season opener on Friday.
The sharpshooting star’s six three-pointers set a franchise record for the most threes for a Mavericks player on debut.

An elated Freeman joked that he had almost had an out-of-body experience as he rounded the bases before being mobbed by team-mates as roars of “Freddie, Freddie” cascaded down from the sold-out Dodger Stadium stands.
“It felt like nothing, just kind of floating,” Freeman said. “Those are the kind of things, when you’re five years old with your two older brothers and you’re playing in the backyard, those are the scenarios you dream about; two outs, bases loaded in a World Series game.
