How The Historical And Cultural Background Help Discover The Bible's True Meaning
Manage episode 464888653 series 3552420
In today’s episode, we will be focusing on the historical and cultural context of the biblical author and his audience and recognize how much that helps us get to the point of interpreting and discovering the true meaning of the Scripture for us today.
This is the sixth episode in a How To Study The Bible podcast series. In this series, I share things I learned throughout the past twenty-three years in ministry and from ten years in Seminary getting a Bachelor’s degree in Christian ministry with an emphasis on women’s ministry and Bible study and a master’s degree in Biblical Studies as well. If you are looking to go deeper into the study of Scripture, you will find these episodes beneficial in helping you apply the information to your personal Bible study.
If you haven’t listened to the previous how to study the Bible episodes in HER Podcast, I encourage you to do that. The first of the series is How to Study the Bible and Find Healing and Encouragement for Yourselves where we cover some of the basics of Bible study and gradually look at topics that take us deeper.
Everything we learn about how to study the Bible sets us up to open the Bible and have God speak to us personally and intimately. To know and hear from God personally and intimately and to find that healing and encouragement for yourselves is the purpose behind this series.
Much of what we are looking at in the podcasts series is covered in detail in my Bible study book, DIG: Digging Into God’s Word, A “How To” Study The Bible Guide For Women. Here is the link 👉https://www.onfire-ministries.org/shoponfire/p/dig-bible-study-book.
