In today's episode, Che had an opportunity to speak with clinical social worker Savinna Frederiksen, an Assistant Clinical Professor at McMaster University. She has been in social work and psychotherapy for the last 20 years, working in several mental health and addiction areas. She is a trained therapist for individual therapy and a group facilitator in multiple areas of psychotherapy such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy and Trauma Treatment. In this conversation, Savinna shares her story of strength as she experiences the loss of her partner during the pandemic. Che and Savinna worked together a decade ago and developed a mindfulness support program for healthcare workers. Together, they explore ways to support emotional well-being, contemplation's value, and how we emerge from this pandemic.
