Sibilla Aleramo, piamontesa nacida en 1876, no pudo -como tantas mujeres de su época- proseguir sus estudios mas allá de la primaria. Fue violada a los 15 años y tuvo que casarse con su agresor, siguiendo la tradición del matrimonio reparador. La norma amparaba a los violadores, cuyo delito prescribía si se compromtetían a casare con la víctima. Activista feminista, en 1906 escribió su primer libro "Una mujer", en él que habló de la violación sufrida, algo revolucionario en el momento.
