To honour Elizabeth Hurley's birthday, today we're reviewing Rowing with the Wind, the film where Hugh Grant and Liz met and began a 13-year romance that captured the imagination of people around the world. Happy birthday Elizabeth! While Hugh and Liz parted ways many years ago, people still talk about that Versace dress! Punters might talk less about this film however, but it's nonetheless intriguing to see this 1990s power couple starring on screen together.
Rowing with the Wind, original title Remando al Viento, was directed by Gonzalo Suarez and released in 1988. The film begins in the year 1816 in a villa by Lake Leman, Switzerland. Lord Byron (played by Hugh Grant) challenges each of his guests to write a horror story. Whilst Claire Clairmont (played by Elizabeth Hurley) doesn’t write anything particularly inspiring, another guest, Mary Shelley (played by Lizzy McInnerny) begins her novel entitled ‘Frankenstein’...
