In this captivating episode of the Compassionate Leaders Circle Podcast, co-host and founder Laurel Donnellan sits down with Darryl Brown to explore the remarkable journey that took him from an aspiring basketball player to an influential media professional.
Darryl shares his unforgettable experience trying out for the Boston Celtics, a dream moment that showcased his dedication and passion for the sport. When the path led him overseas, he embraced the adventure of playing basketball in Europe, including stints in Italy and Sweden, broadening his horizons both on and off the court.
Returning to academia, Darryl pursued a graduate degree in Communications at Fordham University. His first job out of grad school found him at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, a humble beginning that paved the way for greater opportunities. His innovative approach not only diversified the content but also proved commercially successful. He wisely notes, “Once I showed them where the green was, there was no black or white.”
