Es riecht nach salzigem Wasser, ein bisschen modrig, nach Hafen und nach altem Holz. Aber auch nach frischem Gebäck und frisch gebrühtem Espresso. Touristenschwärme ziehen vorbei, weichen den Millionen Tauben aus, die den Markusplatz bevölkern. Die Kellner im Caffè Lavena haben alle Hände voll zu tun. Viele Touristen möchten unbedingt hier ihren Cappuccino trinken, wie so viele berühmte Personen vor ihnen: Arthur Rubinstein, Franz Liszt, und allen voran Richard Wagner.
