Året var 1978 - og det var femte år i træk, at promotor Bill Graham samlede tropperne på Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum for at afholder "Day On The Green". Tidligere havde navne som Elvin Bishop, Grateful Dead, Beach Boys og Joe Walsh været på plakaten - men i til den 5. omgang - bare i1978 - kørte Graham et rent rockprogram.
