In this episode, our hosts share valuable insights that incoming doctoral students may not have considered but will help them in their current or future journey toward graduating with their PhD, EdD, DHA, or DBA.
Dr. Charles Banaszewski received his Ph.D. in Theatre from Arizona State University in 2006. For the past 18 years he has taught in different educational settings ranging from the university level to community college, from high school to elementary, as well as workshops for business professionals. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at Grand Canyon University (GCU) in the School of Doctoral Studies, as well as serving as an adjunct faculty instructor in GCU’s Digital Film Department. In addition, he teaches as an adjunct instructor at Scottsdale Community College in the Department of Communication and Film Humanities for the past 10 years.
Dr. Seanan Kelly is currently Assistant Professor in the College of Doctoral Studies at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona leading both online and face-to-face courses examining Leadership and Leadership Theory. Dr. Kelly has been engaged with higher education leadership and policy studies for over twenty-years as student, researcher, and faculty member. Dr. Kelly holds a Master of Education in Education Leadership and Policy studies and a Doctor of Education degree in Higher and Postsecondary Education, from Arizona State University. Dr. Kelly has previously represented the College of Doctoral Studies for curriculum and design as well as subject matter expert for course and text revisions.
Dr. Nicholas J. Markette serves as an Assistant Dean and the Ed.D. Program Chair for the College of Doctoral Studies (CDS) at Grand Canyon University. Previously, he led a 27-member team dedicated to serving doctoral learners in the publication of their dissertation. His role includes leadership in creating support, community, and innovation for students earning a doctorate with purpose. In addition, Markette continues to teach, chair and serve as subject matter expert (SME) for programs/courses and other projects in the CDS including serving on the Academic Affairs Committee and Vice Chair of the Program Standards and Evaluation Committee.
Dr. Markette graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He earned a Master of Science and a doctorate at Grand Canyon University studying high performance teams. His study was awarded the Outstanding Graduate Student Dissertation Award from the Arizona Professors of Education Administration.
Dr. Jo Markette (Editor) serves as a Senior Doctoral Adjunct at Grand Canyon University as well as a veteran high school English teacher for three decades. Her undergrad degree is English Education while she holds three master degrees: theatre, theology, and English. She earned her doctorate at GCU where she met her husband, the above Dr. Nick Markette, at their first residency in the very same program for which they now both teach. Additionally, she is the editor for the "Dr. Markette" YouTube channel, which she runs with her husband.
