Manage episode 384019174 series 3292153
The Falls Church School Board received an extensive briefing on projected student enrollment for the 2024-25 school year and beyond. This briefing included the Weldon Cooper Center analysis at the University of Virginia and the Stephen Fuller Institute. A key focus was the demographic changes anticipated due to three upcoming Falls Church developments: West Falls, the Broad and Washington project, and Founders Row II, all expected by 2026. Superintendent Peter Noonan mentioned that, although final projections are expected early in December, it is estimated that there could be an average increase of approximately 100 students per year over the next three years.
The Board also delayed a decision on altering school start times and Short Wednesdays, opting for another deep discussion of all the issues last night. A draft policy will soon be created for future consideration by the Board.
