The PINN Podcast aims to explore the relationship between nutrition service, behaviour change and psychological aspects and tools to consider when working with athletes. One of the issues we face, as Performance Nutritionists, is when we are becoming academically 'qualified' we receive little to no exposure to a number of aspects that are integral to our role. These include: What a 'good' conversation looks like? How to structure a nutrition 'needs analysis'? How to spot 'red flags' for referrals? How do we set up clinical referrals?... Unlike Psychology, very few nutrition students get the opportunity to have their consultations reviewed with structured feedback. This, and many more elements, we discuss throughout the series. The podcast aims to be a development tool for Performance Nutritionists. We interview experienced, as well as newly qualified applied nutritionists, lecturers and practitioners in sport & exercise psychology, lifestyle practitioners and athletes to uncover barriers & challenges to supporting elite athletes in individual & team sports.
