Perrysburg Podcast
Rivercrest Park is a Municipal (City) Park located on the West side of town near Fort Meigs Elementary school. The address for your GPS is 13761 Eckel Junction Road (Perrysburg, OH). The big reason that I’m covering Rivercrest Park in January is that this park has a great sledding hill. When it snows, Rivercrest Park is the place to be! But, there’s also plenty to do at Rivercrest Park year-round. In this episode, I list the features of Rivercrest Park and throw in some personal stories too. Thank you to Marie Dunn, the Public Information Officer for the City of Perrysburg, for helping me with the list of features. To rent the Rivercrest Park Shelter House, call 419-872-8020 or visit https://perrysburg.recdesk.com/Community/Facility/Detail?facilityId=15 (link accessed 1-9-25). 52:25Today’s episode is an interview with Dr. Nick Goin from Innate Health Chiropractic. Dr. Nick is my chiropractor, and I have been his patient for almost 10 years. I invited Dr. Nick to be on the podcast today because he and his staff have helped me (and my family) over the years, and I want to introduce him to you. In a small town like ours, referrals are meaningful. Dr. Nick and his associate chiropractor, Dr. Rick, are both wonderful. If you need a chiropractor, consider Dr. Nick and Dr. Rick at Innate Health Chiropractic. During our interview, Dr. Nick talks about how he became a chiropractor, why he and his wife chose Perrysburg for Innate Health Chiropractic, services they offer, their staff, their clientele, plans for 2025 and beyond, their website and social media channels, and common misconceptions about chiropractic care. Dedicated to empowering the community with natural health solutions, the team is passionate about helping you and your family thrive! Bio - Dr. Nick Goin (December 2024) Dr. Nick Goin is a passionate and dedicated chiropractor with over a decade of experience serving the Perrysburg community. His journey into chiropractic care began during his undergraduate studies in Business Management at The University of Michigan – Dearborn. Battling chronic allergies, eczema, and back pain, Dr. Nick found little relief through traditional medicine. It was only through neurologically-focused chiropractic care that he experienced a transformative healing journey, sparking his commitment to this field. Today, Dr. Nick is an International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) Certified Pediatric Chiropractor, uniquely skilled in providing gentle, effective care for children, expectant mothers, and individuals of all ages. His mission is to empower families to achieve optimal health and wellness through personalized, holistic care. With a deep commitment to his patients and community, Dr. Nick continues to inspire healthier, happier lives one adjustment at a time. How I met Dr. Nick After lifting something heavy ~10 years ago, I hurt my back. I had numbness and tingling in my right arm (and my right hand) for at least two weeks. I didn’t do anything about it at first because I thought it would go away on its own. When it didn’t (go away on its own)…I got scared. After talking to my friend Patty about the issue, she recommended Dr. Nick at Innate Health Chiropractic. When I was finally ready to ask for help, Dr. Nick and his wife were there for me. After a few adjustments, the numbness and tingling resolved, but I have remained a patient for general health and wellness reasons. 49:23We’re talking about crossing the Perrysburg-Maumee Bridge today. Patrick Burtch, City of Maumee Administrator is my guest. Many Perrysburg residents feel frustrated with the new traffic pattern where the bridge meets historic, uptown Maumee. This episode provides some history for prospective and new Perrysburg, OH residents who are unaware of the recent changes. Current Perrysburg residents will also enjoy our conversation. In this episode, my goal was to learn: Why did historic, uptown Maumee change their traffic pattern? Did they accomplish their goal? Best practices for driving through historic, Uptown Maumee and accessing businesses during busy times. By talking to Patrick, I got a lot of answers. I still don’t like sitting in traffic. But now, I understand Maumee's reasons for the change and a few things I can do to avoid long waits. Special thanks to Patrick Burtch for the interview and Nancy Gagnet for the Maumee image in the episode artwork. Thank you Rhonda Pees (ODOT) for the ODOT links. 43:25Monarch Grief Center is located at 314 Louisiana Ave in Perrysburg, OH. Their website is www.monarchgriefcenter.org . I have passed the Monarch Grief Center on foot many times during the Perrysburg Farmers Market on Thursdays in historic, downtown Perrysburg (May through October). The Monarch Butterfly on the sign in front of their office is easy to spot. This episode gave me an opportunity to tour the Center, talk to the Executive Director (Tim Polakowski), and learn what Monarch Grief Center is, services they offer, and why they chose to set up shop in Perrysburg. The timing of this episode is important. As I record this, Thanksgiving is just a few days away, and Christmas is next month. The holidays can be emotionally difficult for people who are grieving (especially for those who are facing an upcoming loss or have recently lost someone). If you know someone who might need grief counseling, please share this episode with them. ⭐️ Special thanks to Alice Buehrle from Episode 18 of The Perrysburg Podcast for introducing me to Tim Polakowski at the Norma Stark Memory Garden and Labyrinth in June 2024. ⭐️ Thank you for listening to episode 70 of the Perrysburg Podcast. 59:10The topic today is Voter Resources for Perrysburg residents. I like to be an informed voter, but I’m not an expert on the topic of Voter Resources. Therefore, I invited Debra Greenley Gorman to be my guest today. Debra is the President of the Perrysburg Area League of Women Voters, and she is a wealth of information about Voter Resources in Perrysburg. The League of Women Voters (LWV) is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government through their Voter Services work. The LWV influences public policy through education and advocacy. The LWV is comprised of a National League, State Leagues, and Local Leagues. During our conversation, Debra explains what the League of Women Voters is first. Then, she shares voter resources, such as websites, an important phone number, text alerts, and information from the printed nonpartisan Voter Guide (published by the Perrysburg Area League of Women Voters in the PMJ Newspaper ). We recorded our conversation on Saturday, October 12, 2024, and this episode was published on Friday, October 18. By the time you listen to our conversation, things may have changed. Therefore, please use the Voter Resources mentioned today (including the text alerts). Be an informed voter, and get out and vote! Thank you for listening to episode 65 of the Perrysburg Podcast.
