Say Yes to Your Calling (Advent 23)
“Then Mary said, "Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her.”- Luke 1:38
I’m certain that there is someone listening to this right now, that has something you know that your supposed to do, something you need to do, something that you’ve been called to do- but you just don’t want to do it.
There’s nothing more disruptive to the life you had planned than to live in the purpose to which you have been called.
Mary answering her calling meant risking everything, her engagement, her family, her reputation and honor, potentially even her life. She didn’t hesitate, and the world was changed through her.
I knew I was supposed to attend seminary in Chicago. I wasn’t particularly interested in attending seminary or living in Chicago. There were many life paths I desired, and these weren’t among them. I’m glad I said yes- eventually. It’s been a magnificent journey.
Say yes to your calling.
