In today's episode, Iman and I are interviewing Zahra, the Chief Operating Officer at Hikma Health. Hikma Health is a nonprofit start-up that creates customized data systems for nonprofit organizations providing healthcare to underserved and refugee populations. Their platform analyzes health data to support the delivery of personalized healthcare to refugees. We sit down with Zahra to chat about a few different topics. For example: What does it mean to be to a "nonprofit start-up"? How does Hikma operate when all employees are part-time? Which software features Hikma decided to focus on and why? What is Hikma Health's long-term strategy for revenue? How do you flatten the COVID-19 curve in refugee camps? Hikma Health was started with the support of the MIT Media Lab Refugee Learning Accelerator, it was the runner-up in the MIT $100K accelerator competition, and were the winners of the 2019 Harvard Business School's New Venture competition for social enterprises.
