There's SO MUCH to cover in this episode! We didn't plan for a 2-parter and the recording ended up being very long, so we put a poll across our social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and a narrow majority voted for us to release it all at once, so DEAL WITH IT.

Philip VI is between a rock and a hard place at the start of his reign. He has to assert himself as the first king in the new House of Valois, while not pissing off his many vassals and the courtiers who got him where he is. And then there's bloody England...
This episode covers the origins of the House of Valois with Count Charles and Countess Margaret, the leadup to the Hundred Years' War, and the fateful campaigns of Edward III. Not to mention... TOO MANY JOANS.
