This is a spotlight on the Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? —unless indeed you fail to meet the test

Paul urged the Corinthians to examine themselves because there was a fear that many had been misled due to the wrongdoings and disorders in their church. He wasn’t doubting their faith but challenging them to wake up and see if Christ was truly working in them. They needed to check if they were in the faith. Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith.

We should examine our lives, but more importantly, examine ourselves. Hidden sin can ruin us even if it’s not visible. It’s crucial to check our beliefs, but even more crucial to check our hearts. Heart faults are more dangerous than head faults.

The main point of examination is to see if you’re in the faith. Check if what you believe is true and if you truly believe it. Focus on this: Is Jesus Christ in you? Knowing about Him isn’t enough. Is He truly in you? Reading about Him is good, but is He in you?

Beloved let us examine ourselves to see whether we are in step with true Christianity. I have a question. Are you progressing in the faith as a disciple? Do we desire to know Christ and live in His love? Are we living in spirit and truth? Or

Are you regressing in your Christian Walk, due to sin and error? If you’re feeling unsure, the quickest way to overcome your doubts and fears is through self-examination. Imagine a captain telling his sailors to be cautious because he’s unsure of their location and there might be rocks nearby. He then checks the charts and the stars, and confidently tells them to sail freely because he knows they’re safe.

How happy will it be with you if, after having searched yourself, you can say, “I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him.” And what if it should have a bad result? Better that you should find it out now than find it out too late.

This examination, is never unimportant or useless for Christians. We can examine our own spiritual lives in many ways. The most important is the witness of the Holy Spirit within us, as we ask God to search our hearts and reveal any false spirituality.

As we examine ourselves, let’s avoid a legalistic mindset of “I need to do this or that.” Instead, let’s rest in Him and allow Him to work through us for His glory.

This testing was not for the purpose of determining whether they were saved. Paul was confident that they had experienced God’s saving grace. Instead, They needed to test whether they were operating in sync with the true faith or with the heretical teachings of the false apostles. Or were they regressing due to sin and error.

We should be willing to face up to this issue. I think two or three times a year we should do this. Examine yourselves
