• Introduction • What We’ve Been Watching • News o Universal’s Monster Universe Despite terrible reviews for the Tom Cruise led action horror reboot, The Mummy, the picture is slated to make $169.3M worldwide (however, only $30.5M domestically) – marking the star’s biggest opening weekend of all time. Critics are burying the film across the board, but it appears as though the international box office might be enough to save Universal from a major financial loss. o Top Gun 2 Title Top Gun 2 is finally in the works and Tom Cruise has some new details concerning the anticipated pic: its title. The studio wants to see how Wonder Woman performs (so far so good on that front) and how Justice League turns out, before they barrel ahead with multiple more films every year. More films will get made, don’t worry, but it makes sense to ease off the gas a little and be certain about the best route ahead.” o Suicide Squad 2 to Begin Filming Next Year In an interview with THR, Joel Kinnaman, who plays Rick Flag in DC/Warner Bros. critical flop Suicide Squad, stated that the sequel will begin filming next year: “As far as I know they're writing the script and I think the plan is to shoot it sometime in 2018, but that could change." Kinnaman goes on to say, "I think I'll definitely come back for it." o James Mangold to Direct ‘Disorder’ Remake ‘Disorder’ came out in 2015 to critical acclaim. James Mangold (Logan) is slated to direct the reboot, and Taylor Sheridan, screenwriter of Sicario and Hell or High Water wrote the script.
