The violence began in the village of Al-Fuwwar on Wednesday, forcing most residents to flee, according to the Sudanese rights group Middle Call. On Thursday, the attacks expanded, targeting eight more villages, including Salim, Abu Karna and Umm Wazain. Speaking at a press conference in Astana, Kazakhstan, Putin said, “If the country we’re essentially at war with becomes a nuclear power, we will use every means of destruction available to us. Let me stress this: everything.” This comes as reports suggest some Western officials believe the US might provide Ukraine with nuclear weapons before President Biden leaves office. *) Keffiyeh-decorated peace balloons float over Cappadocia In Cappadocia, peace advocates have taken to the skies to protest Israel’s actions in Gaza — using hot-air balloons adorned with keffiyeh patterns. The balloons, launched by the Foundation for Culture and Civilization, floated gracefully over the region, with the keffiyeh — a symbol of Palestinian identity — standing out as a powerful message of solidarity. Recently, the keffiyeh was added to the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
