I often tell people that the share tips they get in a bar late in the evening tend never to be the best investment ideas. So, whether starting a business from an idea created over a few drinks falls into this category as well, my guest Aine Kilkenny will probably tell me. Because while the world was still in the grips of COVID, along with friends Fiona Parfrey, Lauren Duggan, Áine put a girls’ wine night idea into action and now have a business that has seen them all quit their day jobs, move home to Ireland, and be nominated for an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award all in two years.

Riley is a company that aims to make superior, eco-friendly period and feminine care products more convenient and accessible to everybody, using a novel subscription-based model. Their products contain no bleach, no pesticides, no toxins, no harmful chemicals and the company has sustainability as one of their core values, with a plan to end the use of plastics in period care products. The company is also proud to be part of the fight against period poverty on the ground in Ireland but also further a field in Kenya.
