Gus Walz, son of Democratic Vice President Tim Walz, showed America what love looks like as his father gave his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention. When Gus stood up tears streaming from his eyes telling the world, 'that's my dad", he gave a lesson in love this world needs. That beautiful 17yrs teenager did not care about what anyone was thinking, was not too proud or cool to cry, he just wanted us to know he loves his dad! A lesson for all to learn. I'd like to think that in some ways the tears that Gus shed helped wash away some of the hate, and anger, of this campaign. Gus reminded us what is really important, and that decency and values matter. Policies originate from values. Gus showed us what strength looks like. When he ran onto the stage and hugged his dad, I'd like to think we all felt the warmth of that embrace. Thank you, Gus, for making me cry!
