Why did Paul write the letter to the Colossians?

Colossians 1 introduces the Apostle Paul's letter to the church in Colossae, a small city in Asia Minor. The chapter addresses false teachings that were prevalent in the Colossian church, particularly those that questioned the deity and sufficiency of Christ. Paul counters these errors by presenting a profound theological portrait of Jesus, declaring Him to be the image of the invisible God, the creator of all things, and the head of the Church.

Paul also draws connections between his own sufferings and the struggles faced by the Colossian church.
