Durante la década de 1910, varios artistas viajaron por Europa, y vieron todo ese nuevo arte vanguardista, y lo adaptaron a sus obras. Sin embargo, al volver a la Argentina, el público se opuso ante tal obras, ya que no demostraban los temas tradicionales de la pintura argentina.
