Mikey talks to DAN BURKE/YOUNG HARROW FOUNDATION - HOW TO BE A YOUTH WORKER
Manage episode 331587052 series 2867947
Dan tells us how he got into youth work. It has been a somewhat unconventional unplanned route. But a youth work professional willing to try different things and overcome setbacks is probably the best type of youth worker there is.
Dan Burke is the CEO of the Young Harrow Foundation. Dan gives tips on getting into youth work to transform the lives of young people.
The YOUNG HARROW FOUNDATION supports over 230 local charities doing phenomenal work for the community by helping them raise money and work closely with the local authority and each other.
The various charities include LGBT, autism, mental health, sport, holiday provisions, help for those eligible for free school meals, estate work, and so on. All these charities feature on the YOUNG HARROW FOUNDATION'S WEBSITE - www.youngharrowfoundaiton.org
The Young Harrow Foundation, by being such an integral part of the community, also has its finger on the pulse of young people's needs.
There is something for everyone. Take a look at their website. There are 300 plus activities available. If you are bored or feel isolated, need some friends, do something to 'scare' yourself (in a good way). Sign up for an activity. You never know where it may lead.
Mikey has delivered loads of podcasts, interviewing many local, exciting, passionate people. We are grateful to all who have participated. We are taking a break to recharge and prepare for the next journey. As Arne said (and Mikey was in the last Terminator film), We'll be back
