Troy and LaDonna French, a couple from Reedsville, North Carolina, had a seemingly normal life with their two children, Whitley and Hunter. However, their peaceful existence was shattered when Whitley was brutally murdered in 2012. This case, suggested by a listener, explores the tragic events that unfolded in their small town. The French family's close-knit community and their struggles with their daughter's choices and relationships add complexity to the story. The investigation into Whitley's murder and the subsequent trial reveal shocking details and raise questions about the motives behind the crime. Whitley French woke up in the middle of the night to find an intruder in her bedroom. The intruder attacked her and then shot and killed her parents, Troy and LaDonna French. The investigation initially focused on Whitley's boyfriend, John Alvarez, but DNA evidence eventually led to the arrest and confession of Jose Alvarez Jr., John's half-brother. Jose had been obsessed with the French family and had been breaking into their home for months before the murders. He was sentenced to two life sentences without parole.
