In the latest episode of The Ticker podcast, we talk everything careers.

IR Magazine reporter Noemi Distefano is joined by Oskar Yasar, managing partner at Broome Yasar, and Smooch Repovich Rosenberg, founder and CEO of Smooch Unplugged, for a career-centric conversation.

As highly regarded figures in the global IR recruitment scene, Yasar and Repovich Rosenberg provide actionable insights on navigating the ever-evolving IR environment, share the importance of personal brand awareness in career progression and delve into factors influencing IR compensation.

‘What’s really important is having the credibility and the confidence of knowing what your personal brand is,’ Yasar notes. ‘If you don’t know what it is you’re bringing to the table, how is the person on the other side of the table going to buy that product? We are all commodities; we are bought and sold.’

For Repovich Rosenberg, the IR function calls for a focus on intangible leadership attributes now more than ever.

‘The IR role is that of being a key adviser to management and the board and you have to be able to think quickly on your feet and pivot,’ she says. ‘Gone are the days when an IRO could be stuck in a linear track.’

In the second part of the episode, Garnet Roach interviews Jill Chapman, head of IR and corporate development at Hilton, a four-trophy winner at this year’s IR Magazine Awards – US. Chapman offers exclusive insights into the methodologies driving Hilton’s success, exploring techniques to evaluate IR program success and delving into enduring post-Covid-19 trends.

In this episode, you will hear:

•How to boost your IR salary

•Essential qualifications and personal attributes in IR

•How to adapt to cater to a more globally dispersed investor base

•How to measure the success of your IR program

The Ticker podcast provides listeners with insights into cutting-edge issues of the day for investor relations professionals.

The series features interviews with IR experts bringing a global perspective, actionable insights and commentary on trending topics. These include sustainability, activism, corporate access, regulation and more.
