Today is World Food Day! What better way there is to celebrate this than to learn about how a young entrepreneur addresses the food waste problem in the city he is living in: Lund in Sweden. Journey participant and clinical medicine researcher Soham Datta started Food Saving Lund with a few other volunteers and together, they have already saved more than an amazing 5500kg of food over the past year. Soham will share the story of Food Saving Lund, how he turned an idea into practice, which challenges and turning points he had to face along the way and what he learned from this journey. Today, Food Saving Lund has scaled up to having 150 active members, over a thousand followers online and even if Soham leaves the city, the organizational structure will allow for further growth and many more great achievements. Besides this, we have gotten to know Soham even better. If we were to sum him up in one word, it would be diverse. He was born in India, grew up in Hongkong and Ireland and his childhood dream was becoming a pilot to fly around the world. Now he aims to bring sustainability practices into the medical world, and who knows, maybe he will be extending the concept of Food Saving Lund to the Baltics very soon.
