New research suggests that Americans' risk for developing dementia over a lifetime may be higher than previously thought. A study published today in Nature Medicine finds that after age 55, people have up to a 4 in 10 chance of eventually developing dementia — if they live long enough. That's more than double older estimates. That risk translates into an estimated half-million cases this year - rising to 1 million new cases a year by 2060, according to the study. The risk is highest after age 75, but doctors say there are ways to reduce that risk. Controlling blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol is good for both your brain and your heart. Wegmans shoppers, check your freezer. The grocery chain is recalling its store brand frozen chicken nuggets because they may contain bone fragments. The recall applies to the Wegmans 46-ounce family pack bag. The affected products were sold at Wegmans stores throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, along with several other states. No illnesses have been reported, but Wegmans says it became aware when people started complaining of bones in the nuggets.
