There are many times in life where we may feel like a victim. In some cases, this is a valid feeling - someone has wronged you in some way. However, there is another scenario, in which you become a victim by making someone else into a villain - whether they are or not. The simple truth is, it's a symbiotic relationship. You cannot have one without the other.

In today's episode of The Lead With Trust Show, Sue offers some insights into this strange phenomenon, and how you can identify and avoid it in your own interactions.

During the episode, Sue discusses why some people, due to programming in childhood, feel the need to be a victim, and force others unwillingly into the villain role.

She offers some advice on retraining your brain to circumvent this childhood programming and create healthier relationships throughout your work and life.

Sue also talks about the inherent imbalances built into every construction project - the owner and the owners’ representatives have more power than the construction team - and how victim/villain relationships can be born from it.

Join Sue for this fascinating discussion around the victim/villain relationship and what you can do to prevent it taking hold in your project.

If you have any questions or suggestions for Sue, feel free to reach out via email.

Enjoy!

What You’ll Learn in this Show:

  • Why programming and events in childhood can lead some people to go looking for a villain so they can play the victim.
  • How both the victim and villain roles reside inside us all, and how we often use them to avoid having to face things we fear.
  • Thoughts on how to avoid slipping into a victim mindset.
  • And so much more...
