The arrest of Omoyele Sowore last year drew criticism from civil society in Nigeria and some in the international activist community. Questions were raised about the executive and the security sector overstepping their authority and targeting critics of the present government. Dimeji Ayanwole, a personal friend of Sowore, shares his thoughts on Sowore’s desire to improve Nigeria and diaspora activism more broadly.
