Almost as if what they intend to communicate is so confounding, so perplexing, so incomprehensible it must be justified or explained before it’s presented. I love the way Dr. John C Maxwell addresses this issue. He says ‘A teacher is generally someone who takes something fairly simple and presents it in a very complex way. A great communicator on the other hand is someone who takes a very complex topic and makes it simple to understand.’ Let us then lead as communicators who simplify life for understanding. Wasting, consuming, occupying time before telling a story does not help the value and quality of the story. If your story needs that much help, tell a better story.
