John Eginton has been sailing tall ships professionally since the age of nineteen, and has been captain of the Mystic Whaler since 1984. Captains John and Pat own and operate Mystic Whaler Cruises, now in it 25th year. John serves on the board of OPSAIL CONNECTICUT, is past-commodore of the American Schooner Association, and has served as vice president of The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race. In 2015 Tall Ships America awarded John its prestigious Sail Trainer of the Year award. Capt. Pat Beck is a native of Delaware, and came to this area in 1985 as a Girl Scout leader on her first sail-training experience (also when she and John met). An able sailor and consummate teacher, Pat maintains the highest level of safety and cleanliness aboard the Mystic Whaler, while providing its passengers with positive and memorable experiences. Between cruises, Pat spins and dyes wool for the beautiful creations she weaves on her loom. Yes, there is a loom on the quarterdeck.
