“Be Like Abigail, Not Nabal”

1. A prideful person and humble person
* Nabal = foolish person
* Nabal’s stance on money
* Deuteronomy 8:17-18 “Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” (NIV)
* Abigail’s stance on wealth
2. A person who destroys peace and a person who creates peace
* The power of Abigail’s apology and intercession enabled David to return to the will of God
* Ernest Gordon’s testimony
3. Eternal destruction and eternal life
* 1 Samuel 25:37-38 “In the morning, when the wine had gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. And about ten days later the Lord struck Nabal, and he died.” (NIV)]
* 1 Samuel 25:42 “And Abigail hurried and rose and mounted a donkey, and her five young women attended her. She followed the messengers of David and became his wife.” (NIV)
