Prudence Marrs Bevis was not your typical witch. When Thomas Bevis, founder of Victoria, Missouri, brought his young bride home, the local residents were convinced she was a witch. Every bad thing that happened in the community was blamed on her. Did she truly practice black magic, or was she a victim of superstition and ignorance?
