Gerhard Berger: Senna the best, Verstappen better

During an interview Austrian news outlet Krone, Berger made an unexpected admission: “I said before that Senna was the best driver of all time. I have to say, I think Max Verstappen is now even better than that. He has skills that I haven’t seen yet.”
Berger is enthralled by what Verstappen does on race weekends, and sees the positive of his total dominance of the sport in recent years: “It’s also interesting to see that there is such perfection. On the one hand, the team didn’t have any technical failures, they didn’t miss any pit stops. Then, on the other hand, a driver driving at the very limit never makes mistakes.”
A big call by Berger that is sure to have Senna fans on the defensive. However, there is no one better qualified to make that assessment of Senna as a driver who shared a McLaren pit garage in harmony through 48 GPs, three seasons: 1990 until the end of 1992.
Paul Velasco & Jad Mallak weigh in on the latest statement made by ex-Formula 1 driver, Grand Prix winner and former F1 team boss Gerhard Berger regarding his great friend Ayrton Senna and F1's new King: Max Verstappen.
Jad starts the episode off: "Gerhard saying that Verstappen is better than Senna. That's a statement, a major statement. There are lots of similarities in the way that Max drives and how Senna used to drive. Is it simply this way there are similarities or is Berger's statement being exaggerated?"
Paul reckons: "He said it so it's not exaggerated and Gerhard is the best-placed driver person on the planet to make that call. As a diehard Senna fan that I have always been, I'm going to be honest and say I can't disagree with him."
