We know more than ever that educators must aim to educate the whole child. But school leaders also need to be coached to be “whole.” Sean Slade has spent a career in health promotion, focusing on the whole child. His passion is coaching school leaders to reach their potential to be effective, caring educators. In this podcast, he describes his vision for coaching those who are leading schools and districts.
ABOUT SEAN SLADE
Sean served as a senior education officer for New South Wales, in Sydney, Australia, as Project Director for consulting firm WestEd, and has advocated regularly for health promotion and educating the whole child. Sean worked for ASCD in various positions, including Director of Whole Child Programs and Senior Director of Outreach. He spent five years with UNESCO, and now he is head of BTS Spark of North America, a branch of BTS, focusing on training the next generation of educational leaders. Sean also regularly writes for publications such as Ed Week, EdSurge, and NAESP. He is the author of the book “The Power of the Whole: What is Lost by Focusing on Individual Things.”
