English spoken podcast Karen was born in California to Chinese immigrants who settled in the US in the 1950’s. She’s been writing poetry since childhood and to her it was clear she would become a poet after graduating from college. Her parents thought that a particularly bad idea though so she went to law school instead and practiced law for over 25 years. In 2015 her short story Words Fly By appeared and in 2016 Cha (the Asian Literary Journal which you might have seen on the facebook page and/or Twitter feed of Not just Hemingway) published Moon Cakes. She’s the author of The Dancing girl and the Turtle which was published by Linen Press. She's currently working on another novel and writes essays Kao lives in her bed, which is amusing in a way, and does fun-reading. The podcast focuses on “Afternoon at the Bakery”, from the collection Revenge by Japanese author Yoko Ogawa, and Japanese writing and accessing different literary canon, foreign voices, foreign cultures. http://www.asiancha.com/content/view/2369/551/ http://inkstonepress.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Words-Fly-By.pdf https://www.wordswithoutborders.org/book-review/yoko-ogawas-revenge
