Pete Sands is a Diné (Navajo) performer, artist, musician, filmmaker, and activist. He is the creator of ‘Navajo Highways’, a puppet show starring Ash and Sadie, two fictional characters, teaching and discussing Navajo language, traditions, and culture.
In 2020, he was recognized by Time Magazine as one of its ‘Guardians of the Year’ for creating the Utah Navajo Health System’s COVID-19 Relief effort to deliver food, firewood, and water to thousands on the Navajo Reservation.

Denise Lajimodiere is an Ojibwe poet and the author of Stringing Rosaries (North Dakota State University Press, 2019). She is among the founders of the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition.
She lives on the Turtle Mountain Reservation, in North Dakota. In 2023, she was appointed poet laureate of North Dakota, 2023 – 2025.
