Margo Robbins is a Yurok basketweaver, part of a tradition in her Northern Californian nation that stretches back centuries upon centuries. She is the co-founder and executive director of Cultural Fire Management Council (CFMC). She facilitates the Cultural Burn Training Exchange (TREX) on the Yurok Reservation. Margo’s work aims to restore the ecological and cultural deficit caused by almost two centuries of fire exclusion and has been featured in National Geographic Magazine. Here, she refers to ancestral cooking methods that are still being practiced all over Turtle Island, America, from Alaska to Argentina.
