Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.
The final episode of Vecna month is upon us! This week, in the grand finale of our focus on Vecna, I look back at Vecna: Eve of Ruin, its general reception, and I expand on how this adventure path can be fixed. I ponder if there are there any OSR systems that would suit it? I have always associated Vecna with the old school of the game. I also take a much more thorough look at what changes I would make if I were to run it, and expand on this idea as how I would envision running an entire 5e campaign from level 1 through 20, focussing on this Adventure path at the end, and how the ground work would be set out from the start. I do some high level detail about the fixes to the actual module, such as removing the secrets subsystem and replacing it with something that is more oriented towards roleplaying and also fixes another major issue I had with Eve of Ruin as written. Tune in to see if any of these ideas I go over inspires you to attempt these fixes yourself, or at least gets your creative juices flowing.
