Episode 19: Life's Playbook with Bryan Charleau

Many athletes struggle with identity loss when transitioning out of sports because their sense of self is tied so closely to their performance and structured training regimens. This transition can be disorienting but also offers opportunities for personal growth if athletes can harness the skills they gained from sports in other areas of life.

In this episode, we sit down with Bryan Charleau, author of the book "Pitching Sales! A Complete Guide to Becoming a Sales Professional" and found the Pitching Sales Consultancy to help young sales professionals mold their careers. Bryan grew up in a small town in Canada and went to Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. Bryan played 5 years of football in the city, three years into his student-athlete career he tore his ACL in spring camp. He felt devastated and struggled to recover, especially away from home and his support network. Breaking the news to loved ones was difficult, and uncertainty loomed. While he leaned on teammates and friends for support, it could still feel lonely. After rehab, Bryan returned to sports for a fresh ending to his athletic career. Yet, after university, uncertainty about the future without athletics persisted.

Bryan discusses his transition from being an athlete to a career in sales, highlighting the challenges he encountered in aligning his job with his goals. This journey inspired him to write a book to aid others in similar situations, emphasizing the importance of learning and growth from challenging experiences.
