El 7 de marzo de 1975, hace exactamente 50 años, se lanza “Young Americans”, noveno álbum de David Bowie y el disco con el que cambio de color hacia la música negra y el sonido soul de Filadelfia. A finales de ese mes (28 de marzo) Ian Hunter debuta en solitario con disco homónimo tras haber abandonado dos meses antes Mott the Hoople.
