This was recorded in the kitchen on Sunday morning 15th December 2024.
"Good morning and welcome to my kitchen in Cork Ireland.
I'm very disappointed in my hand.
When I woke up this morning, it was seized up, tight, painful to loosen.
Yeah, I've had trouble with my right hand for months now, but for ages I kept saying to myself, "It's getting better, it's at the speed of lichen, infinitesimally, slowly."
But no, today I feel very, very disappointed, in other words, pissed off and angry and frustrated and annoyed and enraged at the trouble I'm having with this hand.
Not only has the middle finger got what's called clicking finger, so that I have to wrench it back uprise every morning.
And that hurts, but the thumb, which I have thought was getting better, now feels like it's getting worse.
There's so many things I can't do with my right thumb.
It's suffering from what the MRI revealed to be normal wear and tear.
I wouldn't call anything like I have normal.
But I came downstairs, I said hello to my daughter, and I said hello to my wife.
They both got off and left the kitchen, but I was perfectly amiable to both of them.
So I didn't let my rage spill over into my communications with them.
I didn't shout at them, I didn't throw a plate or a cup or anything on the ground and tell them to feck off.
No, I was just quietly appreciative of their presence.
I didn't interrupt either of them.
I asked questions about, well, what would you like for Christmas?
I did.
Perhaps encourage my wife to hurry up and leave the house.
But I did that in a very nice way.
You know, a way that didn't make it obvious that I was encouraging her to leave the house.
You know what it's like when you have an intention, you're very clear about it, but you don't make it obvious to the other person that you want them to get the hell out of the house.
No, I've been in very good form this morning.
Wretched, bit wicked.
Actually, I haven't seen that film yet."
