Black people have been celebrating this holiday for more than a century. Barbecues, speeches, music, community, and sweet potato pies are the hallmarks of Juneteenth celebrations. This important holiday has gone virtually unnoticed and ignored by white Americans. In 2021, President Biden signed the bill making Juneteenth into a federal holiday.
