In this episode, I discuss a study that explores how and why excessive work behaviours or workaholism can develop. In this episode I summarise the key findings which includes a breakdown of both the internal and socio-cultural factors that influence the development and maintenance of excessive work behaviours and translate how you can utilise the findings from this study into practice. The study I am discussing in this episode is Kirrane, M., Breen, M., & O'Connor, C. (2018). A qualitative investigation of the origins of excessive work behaviour. Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, 91(2), 235-260. You can access the original article here: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/joop.12203 If you enjoy the show then don't forget to subscribe and please leave a rating.
