The murder of Thomas Becket by four of Henry II's knights is an immortal moment in English history. While "Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?" is an 18th-century affectation, it is clear that Henry II said something to send his knights off to Canterbury to deal with the archbishop! What is interesting about Grim's account is that Becket seems more than willing to embrace his martyrdom.
