How proud would you be if your daughter received an honorary PhD, at age 17? And what if she had also written 3 books, seen half the world's bird species, and shared the stage with Greta Thunberg and Emma Watson? Our guest today has broken about every stereotype by her 21st birthday, and yet is completely unassuming and down to earth. Her name is Dr. Mya-Rose Craig, but her story is far from straightforward: Growing up she faced her fair share of struggles: including a parent with severe mental illness, finding her identity in the UK with mixed race roots, and suffering almost daily attacks by racist trolls, which reached its peak just as she turned 14.
