Acclaimed Dunedin painter Jeffrey Harris talks to Sally about becoming an artist in the face of his father's staunch disapproval, and how his grandparents and a generous art teacher helped. Harris dislikes anything transitory, and although not religious himself, longs to recover the intensity of early religious art.
