In this episode, host Maria Ceballos-Wallis welcomes guests Lorena Devlyn and James Plunkett to discuss their experience working as federal court interpreters.

Listen as James and Lorena explore the reasons why interpreters choose to work in federal court, and share their experiences and challenges when transitioning to federal court interpreting, including the speed of proceedings and the need to learn new terminology. They also share advice for aspiring federal court interpreters and discuss the transferable skills needed for the transition.

James Plunkett is a federally-certified Spanish court interpreter and a nationally recognized interpreter instructor. He has worked in Florida's 13th Judicial Circuit and the District of Columbia Courts, providing training to judges and court staff nationwide.

Lorena Devlyn is a federally-certified Spanish court interpreter with extensive experience in federal and criminal courts. She has worked in federal courts in Texas, including the Austin Division of the Western District of Texas, and various criminal courts in Mexico City.
